最近中国各省市都有许多为海归人才组织的各种活动,为了简化和方便管理,北加州清华校友会利用谷歌日历,创建 了“海归活动大事记”。大家可以充分利用这一公用日历,管理与自己相关的事件。

为 清华大学电子系92级校友陈伟宁家属捐款的倡议

2010年5月9日清晨北京发生了一起严重车祸,清华大学92级校友陈伟宁与妻子 王辉驾车带女儿去看病,停在路口静等红灯的时候,被后面飞速驶来的一辆高级轿车撞出20多米打了几个转后才停下,车身彻底被毁。肇事者弃车逃逸11小时后 被抓获,现在正在进行酒驾认定。陈伟宁被送到医院后,不治身亡。王辉全身重伤,双肺挫裂,颈椎、腰椎、肋骨、等数处骨折,左腿更是粉碎性骨折,面临截肢的 危险。他们的六岁小女儿珠珠脑部严重受伤,一直没能醒来,现在依然静静地躺在特护病房,等待奇迹的出现。珠珠的双胞姐姐珍珍留在家中,还不知道这天大的惨 剧将会怎样彻 底改变她的未来。陈伟宁白发苍苍的76岁老父亲从江西赶到北京,悲痛欲绝。

陈伟宁来自江西武县贫困农村,为人质朴,天性乐观。

18 年前,他是武宁县第一位考入清华大学的学生。就学期间,他多次获得奖学金,并因成绩优秀保送研究生。毕业后,他先后加入爱立信、UT斯达康、诺基亚等企 业,工作表现一直非常杰出。在外,他是积极热情真诚坦荡的好员工、好领导、好朋友。在家,他是无微不至关爱家人的好儿子、好丈夫、好父亲。残酷的命运竟然 夺走了一家的顶梁柱,撇下妻子女儿和双方年迈的父母去面对昂贵的医疗、漫长的恢复、艰苦的生活、以及无穷无尽的伤痛回忆。

惨剧发 生以后,我们一直在尽力与多方面合作,为陈伟宁的家人提供各种必要的帮助。对肇事司机的刑事民事诉讼正在进行之 中,赔偿金额未知;即使法院判到上限,加上受害人的人身和财产保险,比起今后许多年内必需的全家医疗与生活费用来说也远远不够。所以我们设立了专门账户接 受各方捐款,希望能够尽量减缓家属目前和未来的经济压力。

我们会把捐款的方式和进展,以及我们了解到的最新情况随时在chenweining.org更新。为了保证流程顺利、专款专用,收集捐款仅经由可靠的非盈利组织,所有款项最终都会到达家属手中。如果您已经或打算通过别的方式捐 款,我们同样非常感激。

Since 2000, Dr. Jang has been a General Partner of The Vertical Group, a US based venture capital firm that manages over $400 million with a focus on medical device and biotechnology investments. While serving as a board member for many of the firm’s portfolio companies, such as Inphenix, ForteBio, SilkRoad Medical and Yellow Brick Medical, Dr. Jang was the co-founder and/or CEO of many startup companies, including Ensure Medical, Integrated Vascular Systems, Venomatrix, Kyphon and EMBOL-X. Dr. Jang’s prior experience also includes Vice President of Corporate R&D for Boston Scientific Corporation (BSC) and Vice President of R&D for Cardiovascular Imaging Systems. He also worked as a project manager at Mallinckrodt and a scientist at Deseret Medical early in his career. In addition to his professional engagements, Dr. Jang was the former board member and President of Silicon Valley Taiwanese American Industrial Technology Association (TAITA). He is also actively involved in Taiwan’s ITRI projects, by serving as a board member for ITRI International, a consultant to ITRI Biomed program and a member of the Advanced R&D Advisory Committee. Dr. Jang also serves as a committee member/advisor for many government level biotech projects in Taiwan. Dr. Jang received his Ph.D in Materials Science and Engineering from The University of Utah and B.S. from National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. He is the author of numerous publications on materials and inventor of over 40 US and international patents.

Former Chairman of Monte Jade; General Partner of Harbinger Ventures

Mr. Cheng is the co-founder and General Partner of Harbinger Venture, a pan-Pacific venture capital firm actively investing in US, Taiwan, and China. Prior to founding Harbinger Venture in 2000 with the anchor investment from MiTAC/Synnex Group, Mr. Cheng was Senior Vice President of Product Marketing at Synnex (NYSE:SNX), which was an affiliated company with MiTAC Group out of Taiwan. In his tenure with MiTAC and Synnex, he had held various management positions with P/L responsibilities.Mr.Cheng was the Chairman of Monte Jade Science and Technology Association in Bay Area, in 2007. He also writes regularly on business thoughts, trends, and philosophy.  Mr. Cheng received his MBA from National Chiao-Tung University, Taiwan, and B.S.in Physics from National Tsing-Hua University, Taiwan.

Dr. Datong Chen received his BS, MS and Ph.D. degrees from Tsinghua University in Beijing, and then served as post-doctoral researcher in University of Illinois and Stanford University in USA. He also worked in National Semiconductor as a senior staff engineer. In 1995, Dr. Datong Chen co-founded Omnivision Technology in Silicon Valley. As VP of Technology, he led the development of the world's first single chip color CMOS image sensor, which started a revolution in solid state imaging industry. OmniVision was successfully listed in Nasdaq in 2000. In 2001, Dr. Datong Chen co-founded Spreadtrum Communications in China and Silicon Valley as CTO. He led the development of Asia's first GSM/GPRS (2G/2.5G) core processor IC in 2003, and the global first TD-SCDMA (3G) DSP chip in 2004 for mobile handset, which won the first prize of 2006 China national science and technology achievement awards. Spreadtrum was successfully listed in NASDAQ in June, 2007.  Since 2005, Dr. Chen has been Venture Partner in Northern Light Venture Capital, and lead the investments of several high-tech start ups in China. In Jan., 2010, He co-founded the WestSummit Capital, which invest global high-tech start ups. Up to the date, Dr. Chen holds 34 global patents. Dr. Datong Chen has won the China Special Award for Inventor and Entrepreneur and entitled as Chinese Inventor in 2006. He also served as UNESCO specialist, counsel member of China Semiconductor Association and the chairman of Tsinghua Entrepreneur and Executive Club (TEEC)

of ChinaEquity Investment 

Since 2003, Dr. Wayne Huang has been the managing director and CTO of the TMT sector for ChinaEquity, a VC and investment banking firm founded by former Morgan Stanley investment banker and Swiss bankers.  Leveraging his Motorola executive and startup experience, he contributed to portfolio companies in post investment services.  He has also served as an advisor to CTO offices in numerous US companies.  While doing this, he built up a strong reputation as a sought after management consultant in technology acquisitions advisory and post M&A integration services.

In early 2000, he ran his start up eAnywhere for four years, first competing with Siemens’s module product in China and then achieving No.1 market share through partnership with Yulong (HKEX: 2369) as China Unicom qualified vendor, then partnering with Telular (NASDAQ:WRLS ) and together entering US commercial public safety market  as qualified Lucent vendor before successful acquisition in 2003.

Jun (Jeromy) XUE, is Managing Director of TusPark Ventures, and the Assistant President of Tsinghua University Science Park. Prior to joining TusPark, Jun Xue was a professional and serial entrepreneur in IT Industry. In 1990, he worked at China State Information Center. From 1991 to 1993, he worked in IBM (China) as Marketing Representative.  In 1994, Mr. Xue starts his entrepreneur career by co-founding An-Tai Corporation in Silicon Valley as President. In 2002, he becomes Venture Capitalist by joining TusPark Ventures. He involved many hi-tech start-ups investment, such as Spreadtrum Communication (Nasdaq: SPRD), Century Real Technology, Hillstone and TV Mining, etc.. Now Mr. Xue holds several board member positions of TusPark Ventures’ portfolio hi-tech companies, such as Viatime Media, Agate Logic (Semiconductor and IC design), GigaDevice Semiconductors, Inc., etc. Mr. Xue holds a M.S. of Industrial and Systems Engineering from San Jose State University, a M. Eng. and a B.Eng. from School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University.

Dr. Xuecheng Jin is the Vice President of IC Engineering at iWatt Inc, a fables semiconductor startup company in Silicon Valley of California, and is responsible for the company’s analog and mixed signal IC and power conversion technology, with its products volume shipped into leading cellular phone manufacturers (iPhone, Palm, Nokia, Samsung, Alcatel, etc). Before that, he is the co-founder and chief technology officer at Simple Silicon Inc (acquired by iWatt Inc in 2006), where his leadership and technical contribution is instrumental to establish the company’s world-class portfolio of advanced high definition video analog front-end technology which has been widely adopted by the HDTV industry (Sharp, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Samsung, LGE, etc).  His previous experiences include a project manager at BitBlitz Communications Inc (acquired by Intersil in 2004), a venture funded startup company in the Silicon Valley that designs and manufactures high-speed physical layer devices using conventional CMOS technology; a senior analog design engineer at Integrated Telecom Express Inc (NASDAQ IPO in 2000), an ADSL broadband solution startup in the Silicon Valley; and an associate research fellow at Texas Instruments, the leadership analog and mixed signal semiconductor company.

Mr. Chin joined MoSys as the Sr. Director of Strategic Business Partnership in 2008. He is currently responsible for Asia sales, foundry partnership and corporate business strategy development. Prior to MoSys Inc. Mr. Chin was Vice President of Industry Alliances in Cadence Design Systems, an EDA company, from 2005 to 2007. He was Vice President of Asia Photronics, a photomask company, and concurrently served as President of Photronics Semiconductor Mask Corp. in Taiwan from 2003 to 2005. Between 1998 to 2003, Mr. Chin held various business and management positions in TSMC North America and TSMC Taiwan. Mr. Chin held engineering, engineering management and marketing positions in LSI Logic and Fujitsu Microelectronics. He started his career with a startup company, Gillytron, Inc., which designed and manufactured Automatic Test Equipment.

Dr. Roawen Chen joined Marvell Semiconductor, Inc, in 2000. Prior to returning to this position, Dr. Chen also served as Vice President and General Manger of the Communications and Computing Business Unit (CCBU). He joined Marvell as the Manager of Manufacturing Technology in May 2000, and was promoted to Director and Sr. Director of Foundry Operations, in 2001 and 2003, respectively. In those roles he was responsible for foundry business operations and engineering operations. Prior to Marvell, Dr. Chen held technical positions in TSMC-USA and Intel Corp. Dr. Chen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from National Tsing-Hua University and a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from University of California at Berkeley.
