We cannot be more deplored when thinking about the 10000+ people killed and many more injured. Let's act, and help the disaster relief! Speakers: Dr. Qi Zhu 朱琦 朱琦先生于1990年在北京大学中文系获博士学位,次年春访学日本,1992年赴美。曾任教加州伯克莱大学东亚语言文学系,现任教于斯坦福大学亚洲语言文学系。出版有文化随笔集《黄河的孩子》,《东方的孩子》和散文集《东张西望》,《十年一笑》等。《黄河的孩子》登上台湾联合报读书金榜,并且成为一些大学和中学的课外阅读推荐书。中央电视台所拍摄的电视文学片《回乡日记》,由他的作品改编并且由他和家人出演,获得中国广播电视部星光奖。此外,他的作品还曾获首届老舍散文奖和中央日报文学奖。
Mr. Chen joined Silver Lake in 2008 and is a Managing Director. Previously, he was a Senior Vice President and Executive Committee member of ASML, a global leader in semiconductor technology. Mr. Chen joined ASML following its acquisition of Brion Technologies in 2007, the company he co-founded in 2002 and served as the CEO since inception. Prior to co-founding Brion, Mr. Chen was a Senior Vice President at J.P.Morgan, where he coordinated the global research effort in the electronics sector and conducted equity research for a number of technology segments. Previously, Mr. Chen conducted theoretical physics research at Conseil Europeen pour la Recherche Nucleaire ("CERN") and at the Advanced Product Research Development Laboratory and MOS-13 facility for Motorola. Mr. Chen has also served on the Board of Directors of Varian Semiconductor since 2004. Mr. Chen was born, raised and educated in China and is bilingual in English and Chinese (Mandarin). He represented China in the International Physics Olympics in Germany, earning the Silver Medal. Mr. Chen studied Physics at Peking University and received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Moderator:
Physics 69, Hsinchu T. Chester Wang is the general partner and co-founder of Acorn Campus Ventures, and a founding member of Acorn Angels. Dr. Wang graduated from Tsinghua University in Taiwan and later got his Ph.D. in physics from University of Oregon. He had been a college professor taught computer science, co-founded Pacific Rim Electronics, a wholesaler and distributor of semiconductor chips, also a co-founder of CMC, a software company for computer numerical machines. He and his brother, Stanley T. Wang another Tsinghua graduate, have been instrumental in developing numerous residential, commercial and industrial properties in Silicon Valley. He had co-chaired the New Realty Task Force with then Mayor Susan Hammer of San Jose, a city with over $1 billion annual budget and 6,000 employees, to re-engineering City's budgeting and operation. He currently serves on the board of Altigen Communications, Crown Bioscience, Btrend, ChinaBio, and Chinese Bible Society.
